Overview
Djalal Khimdjee is Proparco’s Deputy CEO since September 2018. He has close to 25 years of experience in the field of impact finance and international finance. He started his career in the telecommunication sector with Alcatel Group in 1998 before joining Proparco’s infrastructure team in 2005. From 2009 to 2013, he joined IFC (World Bank Group) as a Principal Investment Officer structuring various transactions in the infrastructure sector (debt, equity, mezzanine, etc). In 2013, he became deputy head of AFD’s “Structured Finance” division before taking the position of Director of AFD’s department in charge of “Access to Finance & Structured Finance” before taking his current position. He is board member of STOA and is part of AFD’s Management Committee. Djalal holds a Master degree in Finance from ESCP Europe as well as an engineering degree in Telecommunication from the Institut National Polytechnique of Grenoble.
Proparco
Proparco is a subsidiary of the AFD Group focused on private sector development. It has been promoting sustainable economic, social and environmental development for over 45 years.
Proparco provides funding and support to both businesses and financial institutions in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle-East. Its action focuses on the key development sectors: infrastructure, mainly for renewable energies, agribusiness, financial institutions, health and education. Its operations aim to strengthen the contribution of private players to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the international community in 2015.
To this end, Proparco finances companies whose activity contributes to creating jobs and decent incomes, providing essential goods and services and combating climate change.
