Proparco is contributing to financing the health sector in South and Southeast Asia via a USD 20m equity investment in QUADRIA CAPITAL FUND II (investment fund).
This project aims to reduce the imbalance between insufficient healthcare provision and rapidly growing demand in this geographical area.
Client presentation
Quadria Capital Fund II is an investment fund dedicated to financing the health sector in South and Southeast Asia. Quadria Capital Fund II L.P. is the successor fund of Quadria Capital Fund I L.P., in which PROPARCO has been an investor since 2015.
Project description
This fund focuses on the health sector and aims to reduce the imbalance between insufficient healthcare provision and strong and rapidly growing demand in its area of operation, while improving the quality of the care provided.
Project impact
In addition to access to medical goods and services, the project will support employment for local communities. Based on the employment data of the predecessor fund’s companies, we estimate that the project will contribute to creating or maintaining over 24,000 indirect jobs in the companies underlying the II fund, including 13,900 which could be held by women.
There will be limited impacts on the environment. Indeed, the fund’s strategy is to support and assist the growth of existing players. The financing will go more to extensions than to the construction of new infrastructure, and to medium-sized buildings.
