By allocating two ARIZ and EURIZ guarantees to Ecobank Togo for the first time, Proparco wants to contribute to the financial inclusion of Togolese SMEs in sectors with a high developmental impact
Client presentation
Ecobank Togo is a subsidiary of the pan-African banking group Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) and is today among the leaders in Togo’s banking market.
Project description
This project involves two ARIZ and EURIZ portfolio guarantees.
The ARIZ guarantee aims to share the credit risk taken by Ecobank Togo in the SME segment through loan operations. With this project, the bank aims to develop its lending activity in this SME segment.
The EURIZ portfolio guarantee aims to support growth in the activity of Togolese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in high-impact sectors: green SMEs and start-ups less than 3 years old, SMEs owned by women or young people under 25, and SMEs operating in the agriculture, health, education and digital sectors. EURIZ is a program implemented with the support of the European Union and the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (OACPS).
Project impact
The ARIZ guarantee automatically covers 50% of each loan granted by the bank to eligible SMEs during the two years of allocation, meeting the criteria for the amount and maturity.
The EURIZ guarantee automatically covers 70% of each loan granted by the bank to eligible SMEs during the two years of allocation, meeting the criteria for the amount and maturity in the eligible sectors.
This operation demonstrates the priority given by Proparco to supporting the private sector in Togo, in particular in high-impact sectors.
