Before creating Novastar Ventures, Steve Beck founded SpringHill Equity Partners, an investor in early stage businesses in East Africa, and was Chief Executive Officer of the philanthropy advisor Geneva Global and Managing Director of two strategy consulting firms: Monitor Company and Gemini Consulting. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Stanford University and a PhD from the London School of Economics.

Novastar

Novastar manages an USD 80 million venture capital fund dedicated to finding and growing the “new stars” of East Africa. Founded in 2014, Novastar backs early- and growth-stage businesses led by entrepreneurs with the capability and ambition to transform markets at the base-of-the-pyramid. These enterprises address proven demand for basic goods and services with innovative business models that widen access, improve quality, and lower cost of basic goods and services for the aspiring mass market.
