Mark Watts is the Executive Director of C40. He has been named one of the world’s most influential leaders driving climate action as part of the inaugural “TIME100 Climate” list. Mark Watts aim as Executive Director is to ensure that C40 is equally focused on science-based climate action and political leadership for climate justice. C40 has grown dramatically in scope and ambition under Mark Watts tenure and its 400 staff now support nearly 100 of the world’s leading cities, representing around 700 million residents.
C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group
C40 is a network of nearly 100 mayors of the world’s biggest and most influential cities, who are working to limit global heating to 1.5°C and to build healthy, equitable and resilient communities. These mayors take a science-based and people-focused approach to achieving their objectives. C40 supports its member cities to develop and implement climate action plans, identify and promote the exchange and implementation of proven sectoral programmes and policies; provides research, technical expertise and access to key partners. Membership is through commitment to the Leadership Standards set the minimum requirements for all member cities and safeguard the integrity of C40 as a network of climate leaders.
