Marie Huchzermeyer is a Professor in the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. Her research covers housing and informal settlement policy from an historical, political and rights-based perspective. She is the author of many articles in academic and non-academic journals and several books, including Tenement Cities: From 19th Century Berlin to 21st Century Nairobi, Africa World Press, 2011.
