New Delhi, India, June 13, 2023 - Proparco is contributing to finance the health sector in South and Southeast Asia via a USD 35m equity investment in Quadria Capital. Proparco is supporting a player with recognized expertise in the healthcare sector, who will aim to develop a high-quality, affordable healthcare offering in the Indo-Pacific region. This new partnership between Proparco and Quadria was signed under the auspices of Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, French Minister of State for Development, the Francophonie and International Partnerships.
Founded in 2012, Quadria Capital is a private equity firm focused on investments in mid-cap healthcare companies across South and Southeast Asia. With deep sector expertise and an active management approach, Quadria Capital aims to deliver both outstanding financial returns and sustainable social impact.
A long-standing partner of Proparco, Quadria Capital aims to reduce the imbalance between insufficient healthcare provision and rapidly growing demand in this geographical area. Quadria Capital has a strong track record in terms of generating social impact, and Proparco’s new investment will build on this by focusing on four key health areas: accessibility, affordability, prevention and quality.
For example, some of Proparco’s previous investments in Quadria Capital have helped to drive healthcare access by creating beds and facilities in underserved districts. The firm has also consistently supported the rollout of affordable products and services as cost-efficient alternatives.
For H.E. Chrysoula Zacharopoulou: “Universal access to health is a long-standing priority of France’s development policy. We need both the public and private sector to mobilize. That is why France is proud to support, via Proparco, a responsible, affordable and high-quality healthcare sector in South and Southeast Asia.”
For Diane Jegam, Proparco Regional Director for South Asia: "The strategy of Quadria Capital, our long-standing partner, will have a significant impact, and we are confident that they will generate positive change for the healthcare system across India and Southeast Asia."
For Quadria Capital, Sunil Thakur, Partner: "Quadria Capital is committed to investing in transformational businesses across medical devices, pharma, and health services that contribute to the affordability, accessibility, and quality of healthcare, particularly among underserved communities. There is tremendous need in India alone, which by some estimates requires over US$200 billion in investments to scale up adequate healthcare infrastructure. For this reason, we are delighted to be partnering with Proparco to provide high-impact investments that drive sustainable and equitable social outcomes."
